Trust School Improvement Lead – Internal

L11 – 15 0.7 FTE – 3.5 days per week

Ironstone Academy Trust are seeking to appoint an excellent Trust School Improvement Lead, who can continue the improvement of teaching and learning across schools in our Trust.

This post will have a 0.7 FTE contract of employment, and will work with the Trust CEO to agree patterns of working that meet the needs of all our pupils. They will work with the Trust School Improvement Team and the HTB to ensure we deliver our Strategic Plan.

The post holder will have opportunity to develop collaborative working across the growing network of Trusts and other organisations in the North East, helping to secure improved outcomes for our pupils. The trust Strategy refelects our vision to provide an inspirational education for all, helping every child to achieve the very best that they can.

This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious school leader to undertake this key strategic role.

This post is to commence on 1st September 2023, or earlier if possible.

The actual working schedule will be agreed via negotiation with the successful candidate.

This post would suit a teacher or leader that has led on teaching and learning; co-ordinated assessment or curriculum development within their own school, an Academy Trust, Local Authority or have been a Specialist Leader in Education for example.

The post provides the successful candidate with an opportunity to add significant experience of working for an innovative and forward-thinking academy trust.

The Trustees are seeking to appoint an existing member of the Trust workforce as Deputy Chief Executive Officer.  This person will work closely with the Trust Central Team and Head Teachers leading the development of the Trust curriculum and improving standards of teaching, benefitting all of our pupils.

The successful candidate will support the CEO in ensuring the delivery of the current, and next, Strategic Plans.  They will report to the CEO and Curriculum and Standards Working Party and deputise, if required, for the CEO.

Y6 Teacher – Overfields Primary School

Overfields Primary School are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic classroom teacher to join our Key Stage 2 team. The successful candidate will be a strong teacher with recent experience of working within upper Key Stage 2 desirable. They will have a clear understanding of how to support individuals and groups to achieve their potential and be committed to achieving the highest outcomes for all pupils. The successful applicant may be required to lead/manage a subject.

SEN TA – Overfields Primary School

The Governing Body of Overfields Primary School wish to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant for our Speech and Language Unit, to start In September 2023. We are looking for a talented and dynamic Teaching Assistant who is committed to making a real difference to the lives of the children in our school. 

The post is a permanent part time position.  29.25hrs per week (4.5 days) at Grade D Term Time only plus 5 PD Days

Salary Scale Grade D Point 8 – 11

The Speech and Language Unit provides provision for pupils on a full time and part time basis.  It consists of:

  • Foundation Stage 4 place part time support base
  • KS2 10 place full time support base
  • KS1 10 place full time support base
  • Outreach Provision 10 place

Children are fully integrated with support on an afternoon into mainstream classes at Overfields Primary School.

There is an expectation that the successful candidate may provide outreach sessions to children in Redcar and Cleveland and Middlesbrough schools, therefore it is essential that you have a driving licence and access to a car. Mileage will be paid for additional miles incurred whilst providing outreach sessions.

The successful candidate will be a flexible member of a team of three teaching assistants and three SEN teachers.  The post will be initially based within the Early Years however experience in both KS1 & KS2 would be an advantage as the teaching assistant will also support language unit pupils throughout school on an afternoon. This post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute towards the extension and further development of an already outstanding provision.

Speech & Language Unit Co-Ordinator / Class Teacher – Overfields Primary School

Are you a Primary SEND Teacher looking for a new leadership role?

Overfields Primary School  are currently looking for an experienced SEND Teacher to lead our Speech & Language unit . This involves teaching in the Key Stage 1 Language unit, delivering outreach sessions and dedicated management time to co-ordinate the work of the unit in partnership with the Speech and Language Therapy team.

The post is a permanent part time position 4 days per week Mon-Thu. Main Pay Scale/Upper Pay Scale with SEN allowance and a TLR2b

Our highly successful unit is for pupils with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and severe speech sound disorder/difficulty. We provide teaching and learning from Reception to Year 6 for Redcar & Cleveland and Middlesbrough authorities. The provision is attached to our mainstream setting with the children having specific literacy and maths teaching on a morning linked to their individual targets and then integrating into Overfields mainstream school, with support, on an afternoon. This integration is very successful and part of the teaching role would be to work alongside mainstream colleagues delivering the curriculum.   

The base holds 24 children split across the key stages. Children are placed within this unit by the local authority, in partnership with Health professionals through a referral and panel process, which the appointed SLU lead will contribute to. Children who attend are dual registered – some attend part-time and some are with us for 0.9 of the week, returning to their home school for an afternoon. Children do not require an EHCP to have a unit place

Children have weekly sessions with a speech therapist and SEN Support Plan targets, reviews and meetings with parents are conducted jointly with the therapists.

The chosen candidate will be a committed, enthusiastic, and empathetic teacher who enjoys the challenge of working within a SEN environment and who has high expectations of the pupils in their care. Our Language unit pupils make good progress from their starting points.
