We have had a very busy first week back and the children have been working hard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">World Book Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Next Thursday (5th March) is World Book Day. A electronic letter was sent home in the holidays detailing the events of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udcda World Book Day School Activities (2026)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfad Dress-Up Day<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Children can come to school dressed to represent:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>their <strong>hobbies or interests<\/strong> (e.g. sports kit, chef, artist, pop star)<\/li><li>a <strong>favourite author or idol<\/strong><\/li><li>or a <strong>favourite book character<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfc5 Blue Peter Book Badge Challenge<\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Children are encouraged to apply for a <strong>Blue Peter Book Badge<\/strong> (with parent support online).<\/li><li>Badges earned will be brought into school to celebrate together.<\/li><li>The school hopes to reach <strong>50, 100, or more badges<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udcd6 Book Swap Event (Children)<\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Families donate <strong>1\u20132 \u2018like new\u2019 books<\/strong> the week before.<\/li><li>Each child will choose a <strong>new book to keep<\/strong> during the school day.<\/li><li>Extra books will go into school or class libraries.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udcda Parent Book Swap<\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Book swap stalls set up in playgrounds (weather permitting).<\/li><li>Parents bring a book and swap it for another.<\/li><li>Planned to run across the week.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udd0e Mystery Reader<\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Parents\/carers can volunteer to visit classes in March.<\/li><li>They will read a story or extract to the class as a surprise guest.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u270d\ufe0f Author &amp; Visitor Events<\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>George Webster author visit<\/strong> \u2014 Tuesday 17th March.<\/li><li>Visit from <strong>Wendy from Truman Books<\/strong> on World Book Day.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udf9f\ufe0f World Book Day Vouchers<\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Every child receives a <strong>\u00a31 World Book Day voucher<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udcda Book Fair<\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Book Fair visiting the <strong>Junior building<\/strong> from <strong>21st\u201326th March<\/strong>.<\/li><li>World Book Day vouchers can be used as part payment.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<p>Here is another copy of the letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><object data-wp-bind--hidden=\"!state.hasPdfPreview\" hidden class=\"wp-block-file__embed\" data=\"https:\/\/itchyprojects.co.uk\/2026\/dev\/transfer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/World-book-day-letter-2026.docx-1.pdf\" type=\"application\/pdf\" style=\"width:100%;height:600px\" aria-label=\"Embed of World book day letter 2026.docx (1).\"><\/object><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-a6e10954-d6f5-47e8-abd2-18f0a27de25f\" href=\"https:\/\/itchyprojects.co.uk\/2026\/dev\/transfer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/World-book-day-letter-2026.docx-1.pdf\">World book day letter 2026.docx (1)<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/itchyprojects.co.uk\/2026\/dev\/transfer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/World-book-day-letter-2026.docx-1.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button wp-element-button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-a6e10954-d6f5-47e8-abd2-18f0a27de25f\">Download<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Highwayman<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This week we have started our new unit of English looking at the poem &#8216;The Highwayman&#8217; by Alfred Noyes. The children worked really well with the themes and language of the poem and discussed their likes and dislikes. We then moved on to our first piece of writing for the term &#8211; a love letter! We collected lots of phrases to help us declare our love and the children have written some lovely pieces.
