General Questions

What time is check in and check out?

Check in is from 3pm, and check out is 11am. Early check in and late check outs can be organised with prior notice for an additional charge.

What time is breakfast?

Breakfast is served 7am-9.30am Monday to Friday, and 8am until 10am Saturday and Sunday

I have dietary requirements, can you accommodate?

Absolutely, our kitchen team are able to adapt most of our menus to accommodate dietary requirements and allergies, or create something bespoke should your prefer.

Is parking available?

We have 100 parking space available, completely free of charge. We also have 2 blue badges spaces to the rear of the hotel outside the Orchard Suite.

Do you have EV charging points?

No, however we do have outdoor sockets available if you are able to provide a standard  3 prong plug. The closest EV charging station is located at The Old Post Office, S75 4DE (4.9 Miles)

Do you accept cash?

All of our bars and restaurant are card only, however you can pay cash at reception.

Do the bedrooms have fridges?

Unfortunately none of our bedrooms have fridges. However should you need the facilities to refrigerate (medication, baby food etc.) we can pop them in our kitchen fridges during your stay.

Are you pet friendly?

Yes! All of our bedrooms are dog friendly, they even get a tasty doggy sausage at breakfast! We also have a doggy dining area so your pooch can join you at meal times.

Do you have a lift?

Unfortunately not, however all our public areas are ground floor and wheelchair accessible – we also have ground floor bedrooms available in our Lakeside Annexe and Main House for those looking to stay with us

Can we visit if we’re not staying at the hotel or attending an event?

Yes! Our Glendale Restaurant and Norton’s Bar/Bistro welcomes everyone, whether that is just for a cuppa or a tasty meal

I’ve booked a room only rate, can I add breakfast and dinner?

Absolutely, you can book this on your arrival

Do all your rooms have baths?

Some of our rooms have shower over bath, shower only, or wet rooms. When you are making your booking, if you require a particular bathroom layout please make us aware so we can adjust your booking for a comfortable stay

Do you accept American Express?

Yes, we accept all major credit cards including American Express.

Are you close to transport links?

We are close by to a number of transport links including:

  • Denby Dale Train Station – 1.7 Miles
  • Huddersfield Train Station – 6 Miles
  • Wakefield Westgate Train Station – 9 Miles
  • Wakefield Kirkgate Train Station – 9.4 Miles
  • Leeds Bradford Airport – 19 Miles
  • Manchester Airport – 30 Miles

There are also bus stops on Wakefield Road at the bottom of our drive which can take you to Huddersfield, Wakefield, Holmfirth and Barnsley.

Where can I find out about the history of Bagden Hall?

The hotel walls are filled with stories of times gone by! Our Norton’s Bistro area has a selection of photographs left by the previous owners dictating Bagden Hall’s role in World War 1 and World War 2 – photograph’s of the Norton family who owned the property, as well as other community events hosted in the 1900’s. Yes, and it is complimentary to all guests and visitors

Are there any special touches I can add to my room?

We offer a variety of enhancements to bedrooms for an additional charge to ensure your stay is extra special. From fresh rose petals to welcome you into your bedroom or a chilled bottle of our house Champagne to sip upon arrival, we have everything needed to ensure a relaxing and memorable stay.

Do you have any recommended suppliers?

Yes! We have a long list of expert, local wedding suppliers who will be delighted to assist you on your special day!

We have guests that have allergies & dietary requirements, as well as some vegan guests, can you accommodate?

Absolutely, our kitchen team are able to adapt most of our menus to accommodate dietary requirements and allergies, or create something bespoke should your prefer. We also have a dedicated menu for vegetarian and vegan guests.

Do your bars accept cash?

All of our bars and restaurant are card only, however you can open a tab and pay cash at reception.

We’ve booked our wedding with you, can we try the wedding breakfast menu before the big day?

Of course! You can book a menu tasting through the wedding team!

Are dogs allowed to my wedding?

Absolutely! Four legged attendees are more than welcome to attend the celebrations!

How many guests can sit on a table?

The size of our tables are 5ft and 6ft rounds. We recommend between 6 – 10 guests per table, you can fit a maximum of 12 guests but this allows a little elbow room!

Do you offer outdoor ceremonies?

Yes! Between April to October you are able to use our outdoor gardens for your civil ceremony.

Can we organise a bar tab?

Of course, we’ll agree a spend limit prior to the big day and communicate throughout the day what the amount is to keep you updated.

We have children attending our wedding, is that ok?

Absolutely! We have children’s menus available for your wedding breakfast, and you are welcome to provide entertainment for them if you wish.

You have a large list of recommended suppliers, do we have to use them?

Not if you don’t want to, our list of suppliers is both a guide and helping hand to organise your wedding day. Whilst the suppliers we recommend are FABULOUS, you are not obliged to use them.

What are your payment terms?

Once you have paid your initial £1000 deposit, 50% of your remaining balance is due 6 months prior to your wedding date, your final balance will be due 6 weeks before. We will arrange meetings with you, called ‘details appointments’, at these stages also to go through the arrangements of your big day.

Do you allow fireworks?

Yes! We love fireworks at a wedding and have a recommended supplier we can book for you on your behalf. The latest time we can set them off is 10pm, to respect the local residents and farming areas – so take this into account if you are have a summer wedding!

Do you allow confetti?

You can’t have a wedding without a confetti shot! We just ask that you use biodegradable/natural confetti, as we have wildlife and ducks that reside in our grounds.

Do our wedding guests receive a discount on accommodation?

Yes! We discount all of our bedrooms on your wedding day, guests can call the hotel directly on 01484 865330 opt 2 and our helpful team will book them in with the discount applied.

I want to stay with my bridesmaids the night before my wedding, can I do that?

Of course! There’s nothing like a girls night the day before your wedding! Our suites can host up to 4-5 guests so plenty of room to pamper before the big day!

Some of my guests are travelling further afield, and may require the night before – can they book more than one night?

Guests can book the night of your wedding as soon as a deposit is paid, however we cannot guarantee multiple night stays (excluding the bride and groom) particularly over a weekend due to other wedding bookings. We prioritise each wedding day with our full accommodation, releasing any unbooked bedrooms 12 weeks prior to the date – which means other guests not part of that date can book.

I want to get ready at Bagden Hall on the morning of my wedding, but not in a bedroom – do you have facilities to do that?

YES! Our dedicated bridal dressing room is available from the early hours in the morning for you and your bridal party to get glam! From make up stations, high hairdresser chairs to air conditioning (and yes, you’ll most likely need it even in winter!) the dressing room has got you covered to ensure a stress free morning!

Is the venue accessible?

All of our celebration rooms are completely accessible and ground floor with no stairs in any. Our accessible bathrooms are also located in our Orchard Suite. We also have ground floor bedrooms across the hotel, with some having wet room bathrooms for easy access.

Do you allow drones?

Yes! Just be mindful of the private property and farms surrounding the hotel.

Are you licensed for civil ceremonies?

Absolutely! All of our celebration rooms are licensed for civil ceremonies by Kirklees Registry Office, who would be the council that conduct the ceremony.

Can you accommodate a live band/DJ/Singing Waiters?

Our resident DJ is included in all of our wedding packages and can tailor the playlist to your personal taste. If you’re planning to feature a live band or musician, we would just require PAT and Public Liability Insurance certificates for any entertainment you choose to provide.

Do you have a sound system for our music and microphones for speeches?

We have a PA system that can be used for background music during the ceremony, drinks reception and wedding breakfast, as well as a microphone for speeches.

Do you offer bespoke packages?

Yes we do – we understand that not every aspect of our wedding packages may suit you, therefore we can tailor this to suit your requirements. Please speak with our wedding coordinator, to discuss further.

What is your maximum capacity?

We have several celebration rooms to fit all size parties from 10 to 200.

Can taxis be arranged for our guests once the night is finished?

Of course, we have a number of local taxi firms in the area. Our helpful reception team will be on hand to assist with taxi bookings once the party finishes!

Can we provide our own catering?

Yes! We understand that our menus and packages may not be suitable for everyone, whether that be faith, religion or any other reason – which is why we have a specific self catering package available alongside our all inclusive packages. We would just need the correct documentation from your caterers along with their contact details.

Do you allow candles?

There’s nothing more romantic than candlelight, so yes absolutely!

I’m looking for a ‘non traditional’ day, is that something you can do?

Absolutely, anything is possible! Our expert wedding team can help bring your dream day to life, during your initial show around visit we will gather the details of how you envisage your day – and from there we will create a package that works for you.
